for some silly reason, even though everyone is back from vacation, there was no kiddush this week, so we invited a bunch of people like our age to farbreng by our apartment after davening on shabbos. there was one guy who is from here, but hes in brandeis, and he just came home for a visit now, hes actuallly on his way back now. so naturally, i told him im from springfield, and he says he has a friend in college from springfield. who? leo gayshan. so that was some pretty exciting hashgacha protis, so hes bringing back my regards. and also, the kiddush we made turned out to be very nice. i learned with a bunch of people this week, actually, it was kind of funny, there are these guys like a year younger than me that ive learned with, but ive been on their case for a couple of weeks, but every time something else comes up. finally, these i made up to learn wednesday with these two guys. well, they decided to bring along two more friends, so it turned into a whole serious learning session. got to go

Very good, Lavy. It is really a small world. Leo's great grandfather was here in shul a couple of weeks ago on Shabbos and during the kiddush, he started telling us that his grandfather went to see the Frierdiker Rebbe in Rostov, I believe, and asked him about something like leaving the area because of all of the problems. I think that is why they moved east away from the bad areas in Russia. Chaim may remember the details better than me. Can you imagine that? His great grandfather's grandfather was by the frierdiker Rebbe 90 years ago and he still had a connection to Chabad! Anyway, good luck.
